Principles
In my work, I support organisations in all phases of their transition toward working regeneratively for a just and thriving world. We are all learning, unlearning and relearning in these challenging times. To be leaders in a new economy and emerging cultural landscapes won’t be without growing pains. In my processes, I integrate regenerative ways of working through modelling my professional practice on living systems and regenerative design and development methodologies.
Regenerating our ways of working
Regenerative practice seeks to realign our ways of being with living systems. This requires us to respect that we are living beings nested within systems on which we depend. It moves us away from the exploitation of people and the planet and toward revitalisation the systems in which we exist, including our teams, our organisations, our supply chains and our living systems. This will ask us to deeply question and unpick the ways we embody our economic system predicated on exploitation and extraction, in how we frame our work expectations and that of others, in how we frame progress and success. Regeneration is a process. It’s a paradigm shift. It may challenge us to think, strategise and act differently, leaning into new modalities and methodologies.
Working for impact
Working for impact asks us to embrace a systemic mindset and appreciate the intersectionality of crises and injustices. It asks us to recognise that being impact-driven means embodying the transition and transformation that’s needed to bring human systems within our planetary boundaries in a just way. It asks us to examine how we may be upholding and benefiting from unjust systems and to feel into equity and reparation in all senses of the word. Small changes we make can ripple out to create impact, often in immeasurable ways. Working for impact may ask us to let go of metrics, matrices and measurables and instead orientate around a vision for the future. All of this should be integrated into the creation of our stories.
