Local Futures

Brand consultancy and editorial strategy + template builds

Local Futures is a non-profit organisation propelling a worldwide localisation movement and raising awareness of the power of vitalising local economies and communities to restore ecological and social well-being.

In 2021, Local Futures built its Action Guide to equip individuals, communities and organisations with the tools and resources they need to build resilient local economies and flourishing local communities. I supported the Action Guide project by creating editorial structures, templates and style guides for the complex digital infrastructure of the guide. I also worked with project team members to ensure that the essence of the organisation’s brand was instilled in the Action Guide for the intended audience, which required some deeper brand work with the wider organisation’s team.

“The Local Futures project team had created a wealth of content for the Action Guide, and Rachel’s skills were needed to bring an editorial structure and process to working with the content. Between the design team and Rachel, we created a content hierarchy system, and Rachel worked to create templates for the Local Futures team to work with. Her work also stretched deeper into ensuring that the content was tailored to the Local Futures’ audience, and she worked to ensure the brand pillars shaped the fabric of the Action Guide.”
