Summary of project: For a substantial portion of my life, I was a keen crayonist. This expanded into equally as messy mediums: paints, pastels, charcoals and chalks. My dad sat me down one day and pointed out that he couldn’t see a career path in this direction. I did some research and determined I would become an illustrator. So I headed to art school – I succeeded in wiggling my way onto the top illustration course in the country at the time. On the course reading list was Roland Barthes Mythologies. This book was pivotal to my practice and spurred my almost-obsession with semiotics and myth-making in culture. With the support of my course tutors,
